And if you are scanning documents that have already been created then the ability to create a new document from an existing PDF is a great feature. It is also worth noting that you can change the layout of a document in a new page layout which isn't possible with most other scanning programs. ABBYY FineReader is a useful PDF tool that can be used for creating PDF images, sorting files and much more.
Upgrade from previous versions of ABBYY FineReader. The interface is very user friendly. I also like the fact that all the PDFs are created are cross platform compatible. Almost all the output PDFs are cross platform compatible, but there may be some issues with the output PDFs depending on the software you are using. For example, I found that I had to use Adobe Acrobat Pro to see the images on the canvas, otherwise I got duplicate pages. I found this to be a bit annoying but it was easy to fix.
You can also edit the translation settings for the document. Once you have these settings saved, they are applied each time you open a document. The Edit menu has options for text, translation, table, access document, properties, and help.
In addition to the main window, there is also a menu with the following options. There is a menu bar on top with File, Edit, and View. At the bottom, there is a menu with options for document, image, table and PDF viewer.
Once you have an image, you can use the Edit menu to change the scaling of the image. The preview window shows the image and a box with the option of changing the scaling on the bottom left. There is also a tool on the bottom right to zoom in or out.
The File menu has options for new, open, save and save as, close and exit, and printing. The Edit menu has options for Undo, Redo, undo redo, settings, menu, language and help. The View menu has options for zoom, zoom and view, settings, categories, search and go to, view, and scan and print.
The ability to edit the fields and layout is most welcome. I have been using a small box in the bottom of the screen to do this. ABBYY FineReader now allows to do it in the standard text in the document. I have not had the opportunity to use the translation but I suspect it will work the same as the mark up and export.
I have used FineReader PDF 15 since the first beta. ABBYY has worked on this software since 2009 which can be a really long time. I have been impressed with the level of the improvements over the last few years.
The new version does not have the ability to make use of the hotkey. I have used the Ctrl+Z to undo the changes but the new ABBYY FineReader PDF 15 does not have this hotkey. This is a different experience for this feature as I have not used this option in the previous version.
